Bookshelves 2001/2003
Taber Studio
Inspired by minimalist sculpture of the 1960’s, these simple plywood boxes were designed to serve a functional purpose while maintaining a strong visual impact. The initial design consisted of 6 horizontal boxes installed vertically to fit within a particular space. A subsequent, larger installation comprised 12 boxes installed vertically; thin steel shelves, recessed from the face of the box, effectively disappear with the addition of books.
