Home Office 2004
Valenta Taber Architects
The purchase of a neighboring apartment allowed a screenwriter to create a dedicated workspace within her existing Manhattan home. A semi-transparent glass partition replaced the original wall between apartments, maintaining privacy between office and home while visually expanding both spaces. Similarly, sliding glass window panels screen undesirable adjacent views while allowing natural light to enter the space. Offering both practical and visual organization, built-in millwork around the perimeter of the room complement the modern furnishings floating within the space. Soon after completion, the new office inspired the owner to undertake an extensive renovation of the entire residence.
